Skin Care 101: How To Get Clear Skin Fast

Let’s talk skincare.

I don’t know about you, but as someone who is pushing 30, youthful, clear skin is a topic that’s been on my mind more and more lately.

I’ve noticed a lot of changes in my skin in recent years and like many of you, I flock to good ol Google for answers. With that being said, my search queue is pretty much filled with things like “how to get clear skin, best ways to prevent signs of aging”…blah blah blah, you get it.

I’ve never been one to deal with serious acne aside from the occasional pimple here and there but last month was brutal for my skin. I don’t even know what happened to be honest.

So with a few searches, tips and trials, I finally found a way to get clear skin fast and with minimal spending, cuz ya know, we on a budget.

Get a Facial

I know, I know facials sound expensive and that’s because THEY ARE! Unless you go on Groupon.

After having the worst break out of my life, I finally caved and decided to get a facial in hopes that my skin would heal AND IT WORKED!

Depending on where you are, you can get a good facial for relatively cheap. After doing a bunch of research on the different types of facials, I searched for an aesthetician in my area and ended up getting an option to get a full facial and a chemical peel or microdermabrasion for only $40. Not bad huh.

It’s worth noting that I do live in the greater LA area so there are a lot of places that offer the types of services. If you live in a more remote area, you can always buy the facial tools and give yourself an at home facial the works the same.

Because my skin was so damaged by acne, I wasn’t able to get the microdermabrasion I wanted. Instead, I got a regular facial with an extraction (where they remove all your blackheads, pimples, etc.) followed by a light chemical peel that completely changed the way my skin looked!

I initially thought that my skin would literally peel but to my surprise it didn’t! Instead it looks brighter, healthier and I have only had a few pimples pop up here and there. Which brings me to my next point, using the right products for your skin.

Use Products For Your Skin Type

Up until recently, I literally used the cheapest thing I could find at Target or Walmart not really caring what was in it or what skin type it was recommended for. As long as the product was under $10, I’d try it.

Don’t get me wrong, some skin care items under $10 rule, but not all are appropriate for my skin type.

Now that my skin has cleared up, I look at products more in-depth. Before I buy, I look up product reviews and try to match products that best fit my skin type and skin needs.

It’s important to note that as you age, your skin type can change. Mine has gone from a normal to combo skin type to a more dry and patchy type that has yo girl strugglin!

Still, I’m trying my best to keep my skin looking and feeling good post facial and one of my favorite go-to brand’s has been YesTo.

I’m still a newbie to the brand but I’ve been LIVING for their Coconut Ultra Hydrating Sheet Mask, Cucumber Facial Wipes and my all time favorite, the Detoxifying Charcoal Micellar Cleansing Water, that I swear has SAVED my skin!

At first, I was hesitant about the charcoal because since it detoxifies, it can dry out the skin but it’s nothing like the charcoal mask I reviewed before.

I swear by this micellar water so much that I’m giving one away to a lucky reader so be sure to enter at the end of the post 😊

Look at Ingredients

Believe it or not, some skin care brands use questionable or filler ingredients that end up diluting the potency of products.

Some companies go as far as producing products that carry harmful ingredients but market them as good for the skin.

This is why familiarizing yourself with ingredients and a brand’s best practices is important.

Once you find ingredients and brands that work for you and your skin, you can start using the products to help you maintain a fresh, glowy face.

One of my favorite skincare ingredients is witch hazel. Not only does witch hazel help with acne and nourishes the skin, it also helps with under-eye puffiness and it helps with eczema which unfortunately, I also get from time to time.

All in all, get to know your skincare ingredients! It’s so worth it in the long run!

Adopt A Skin Care Routine

A skincare routine doesn’t have to be a ridiculous 20-step process. To be honest, for me it’s as simple as cleansing, using the YesTo Micellar water and moisturizing every morning. Come nightfall I do the same thing and just add an eye cream, maybe a mask before bed.

You don’t have to get crazy and over the top to have good, clear skin. Having good skin is as easy as knowing your skin type, what ingredients work for YOUR skin and following a skincare routine.

To me skincare isn’t about how many products you use, it’s about loving the skin you have and knowing what works to achieve your best skin yet!

One skincare advice that I can give is: When trying out new skincare products your skin might breakout but that’s okay, give it time to adjust to it 😊

I’ve always wanted to try any of the Yes to Tomatoes products. I’ve had Yes to Carrots, but I am more curious about Yes to Tomatoes Micellar cleanser water. I love using natural products.

Right! So life changing! I feel like natural products don’t weigh my skin down as much as others do.

I’ve tried Yesto products, I’m glad they work for you…something about them always irritates my skin, I’m albino tho…so I need to be extra attentive to what I’m using. They have such cute stuff too!

OH NO! I have heard that certain products irritate people’s skin. Luckily I haven’t had a reaction.
