Is the Brooklyn Botany Charcoal Mud Mask For You?

Since I’m well over the 25-year-old hump, I’ve been finding that I’m getting more and more into skincare and skin care products.

Slowly but surely I’ve noticed things about my skin that weren’t there when I was in my early 20s so I’ve been on a hunt to find the best products to help combat things like hormonal acne, acne scars, large pores and blackhead removal.

While doing some research I came across the chic Brooklyn-based brand, Brooklyn Botany. Their products instantly screamed luxury but the price point was right up my alley. After looking through their site for a while I decided to go with the Activated Charcoal Mud Mask.

What specifically drew me to this mask was not only the quality ingredients or the great reviews, but the fact that it claimed to leave the skin moisturized and helped reduce acne blemishes and scars. So being the curious bee I am, I purchased it to see if it lived up to its claims.

Below is my review of the Brooklyn Botany Activated Charcoal Mud Mask, hope you guys enjoy!

The Product

The Brooklyn Botany Activated Charcoal Mud Mask is a cruelty-free mask made to help cleanse and purify the skin from excess dirt and unwanted toxins.

According to the brand’s website, the mask is jam-packed skin benefiting ingredients like activated charcoal, bentonite clay, organic aloe leaf juice and organic jojoba oil that helps clear and revive lackluster skin.

The Benefits

Some of the benefits of using this mask include:

    • A gentle formula that helps reduce acne blemishes and scars
    • Clears skin of environmental toxins + absorbs excess oil
    • Helps with blackhead removal
    • Rids skin of  dirt, bacteria, and toxins
    • Visibly shrinks pores
    • Leaves clean, clear, refreshed, moisturized skin
  • Clearer skin in 10 minutes guaranteed

The Claims

Brooklyn Botany has a 100% Clearer Skin Guarantee where users are guaranteed clearer skin in 10 minutes. What’s cool about this guarantee is that if you aren’t happy with the end results of the Activated Charcoal Mud Mask, the company will completely refund your order. So why not give the mask a whirl? After all, I had nothing to lose if I didn’t like the product. Plus at a $18.99 price point, it wasn’t like it was going to break the bank.

Final Thoughts

After leaving the mask on for roughly 30 minutes ( I was caught up watching an episode of Gossip Girl lol) I rinsed the product off thoroughly with lukewarm water.

To my surprise, my face was left so soft and felt quite pleasant! I don’t know about you, but charcoal masks usually leave my skin feeling super dry and stripped since the activated charcoal is used to clean out excess dirt. The Brooklyn Botany Mud Mask, however, left my skin feeling moisturized, cleansed and very refreshed.

I’m not too sure about the “clearer skin” in 10 minutes thing but my skin was definitely left feeling cleaner.

Overall, I’m pretty happy with the Brooklyn Botany Activated Charcoal Mud Mask. For optimal results, Its recommended to use it twice a week followed by the vitamin C serum. I didn’t use their vitamin C serum but I did follow it with my usual nighttime moisturizer and serum and woke up with my skin feeling amazing. I was also really happy that it didn’t break me out like other charcoal masks I’ve tried.

This looks like just the mask I need. I definitely battle with backheads and if it helped at all with my acne scars that would be great too. I love using facial masks because of the feeling of my skin afterwards. I haven’t use this product before but I will have to look for it now.
