We all go through periods of feeling like things aren’t quite right. Whether you find yourself feeling tired all of the time, feeling sick or whether you just don’t feel like you’ve got that same drive for life that you used to, when you stop feeling like yourself it can be a really confusing and frustrating experience.
I’m here to tell you, not to worry. You’re not alone. I’ve personally gone through experiences where I’ve felt lost, confused and like I didn’t have direction.
The hardest part about going through this is seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Often times you feel like you’re just stuck in those times and that mindset, but that’s not the case.
If you’re going through a rough patch where you don’t quite feel like yourself, here are a few things you can do in order to start feeling like yourself again.

Make some changes
If you feel like you’re stuck in a funk, take a look at why you feel that way. Try your hardest to pinpoint why you don’t feel like yourself and see what changes you can do to make yourself feel your most optimal self.
Everything from frustration with work to feeling tired all the time to feeling isolated from those around you can make a huge difference to how you’re feeling in general.
The best way to deal with feeling lost is to identify parts of your life that make you unhappy and make some changes.
Whether it’s a career, a change in your diet, lifestyle, or getting out into the world a little more, trust me, every small change can make a big difference.
Prioritize your mental health and well being
Mental health is one of those things that gets talked about a lot, however, a lot of us still tend to try and keep our internal emotions to ourselves.
Even though we’re in a state in society where there’s more acceptance, there’s still a lot of stigma surrounding mental health making impossible to talk to employers, family or friends about your internal battles.
Being able to prioritize your mental wellbeing alongside your physical health can make a huge difference when it comes to your mental and physical well-being.
Self-care is one of the most important things that you can to start feeling like yourself again. I know for me, working out, eating right and feeling good about myself really helped me regain the confidence and internal drive I had lost.
See your doctor
One of the best things you can do for yourself in order to make sure you really feel like your best possible self is to ensure that you’re taking care of your general health.
While I’m not too fond of going to the doctor’s office, I do think it’s important to get a doctor involved if you start feeling like there’s no hope or if you feel like you’re in an uncontrollable downward spiral.
Whether something feels mentally or physically wrong or you just want a check-up, seeing a doctor can often make a huge difference and can help you get on the road to feeling better and like yourself again.
Not only that, but regularly seeing your doctor for everything from physical exams to your flu shot is essential for your physical well-being (which can affect how you feel about yourself).
For example, my roommate thought she was losing her mind at one point and went to the doctor to find out she was vitamin B12 deficient. She would have never known if she didn’t go!
Sure, doctor’s offices aren’t the most enjoyable places in the world but it’s well worth it in the end.
One of the most important things to remember is that there’s nothing wrong with going through periods where you feel like you’re in a funk! You’re not doing anything wrong and there’s nothing wrong with you. Just remember that you never have to deal with it alone.
There are plenty of people in your life who care about you and want to be able to do whatever they can to help make your life just a little more pleasant. You just got to be ready to reach out to them for a little support now and then.
